So I went to Al Aseel, a great Lebanese restaurant in Greenacre (the hood). I can say that because, when I was born, I lived there. It wasn’t part of the usual (sub)urban safari adventure, it was a farewell dinner for a workmate. I was quite surprised that this place was suggested, as most of the work crew don’t live anywhere near here and are pretty, white bread. This place was good value, food was fresh and came out quite quickly. Although I enjoyed the dinner, it’s a long way to go to get good Lebanese, especially when Cleveland Street, Surry Hills is just up the road.

June 6, 2009 by australianrozieThommy had already checked this place out a week earlier so we already knew it would be good. Unfortunately/fortunately, Ben Ngu was reviewed in SMH earlier in the week, so the place was packed at 7:30pm. The wait staff were stressed and overwhelmed, but when we finally got a table and food on it, it was great.

African Feeling, Newtown
April 30, 2009 by australianrozieA small African restaurant which has been around for years. Even though it was a Wednesday night, it was quite busy with only one and a half waitstaff. The service was slow, this was unfortunate because we were really hungry. The food was OK: we had a mixed entree of fried things, vegetarian jungle, chicken stew, lamb tangine and coconut curry. Unfortunately, most of the food was too spicy for me (even though we asked for mild), so I didn’t eat too much – except for the Fu Fu (which by itself was very IBS friendly). I enjoyed the special African drinks: African Fruit Juice and Ginger Beer.

April 19, 2009 by australianrozieHidden away in an arcade in Chinatown, this place was bursting at the seams on the Thursday night before Good Friday. The food/soup was very good but you can’t have more than about 5 people on one table.
Excellent Seafood Restaurant, Carlingford
March 7, 2009 by australianrozieThe food was great, but the service was crap. Also incorporating Matt’s birthday and more Chinese New Year celebrations.
